Job Description
Our client is a professional services staffing firm that works to schools with high quality education professionals.
Currently, they are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their Accounting team.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager the Senior Payroll Specialist will sit on the Finance team and will play a critical role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time.
This position oversees three biweekly payroll cycles, acts as a mentor to staff and troubleshoots and resolves any payroll- related challenges or discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Process multi-state biweekly payroll for both internal employees and external workers, covering exempt and non-exempt populations.
- Serve as the second-in-command to the Payroll Manager, acting as a resource and mentor to other payroll specialists.
- Work closely with leadership to resolve complex payroll issues and support process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Experience handling multiple payrolls on a weekly basis (payrolls of ranging from 150 - 3,000 staff)
- Proficiency processing payroll of hourly & non exempt employees
- Experience with CA employment law as it relates to payroll
- 5+ years of Payroll experience
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and/or Xero is highly preferred
- Experience working in education or high-volume temporary staffing environments
- Proven ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables / vlookups )
This is a hybrid role (3 days in office) based out of the company's downtown LA location.
